Darrell Lynn Parks, 62, of Peculiar, Missouri, formerly of Harrisonville, Missouri, died Saturday, September 25, 2010 at his home in Peculiar. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at the Rock Brook Church, 1715 E. 173rd Street, Belton, MO. Family will receive friends from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Wills Cemetery, Peculiar. Memorial contributions may be made to the Philippine Ministry, c/o the church.
Darrell was born May 15, 1948 in Independence, MO, the son of Francis Marion and Minnie Lavaun (Hittle) Parks. He was a 1966 graduate of Ruskin High School and a graduate of Dallas Baptist College. Darrell married Linda Kay Marsh on December 16, 1966 in Kansas City, MO. He had lived in the Cass County, MO area for 25 years. Darrell had worked at Sprint for 14 years as a software engineer before retiring in 2003. He was a part-time minister and had served as pastor at various churches in Missouri, including Freeman for five years.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Linda Parks of the home; three sons, Kevin Parks and his wife, Cindy, Raymore, MO, Chris Parks, Freeman, MO and Chad Parks, Lee's Summit, MO; one daughter, Cindy Oliphant and her husband, Billy, Keller, TX; one brother, Charles Parks, Cedar City, UT; one sister, Betty Pearson, Raymore, MO and six grandchildren.
Darrell was an outstanding husband, father and servant of God.
