Daniel "Buford" Thomas Chastain II, 48, of Adrian, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Bates County Memorial Hospital. Service information will be posted when it is available.

Daniel was born on October 21, 1977, to Daniel Thomas Chastain and Dianna Lynn (Light) Chastain in Butler, MO. He grew up in Adrian and graduated from Adrian High School in 1997. In school, he worked at Yoss Thriftway and later continued working in grocery as a meat cutter at County Mart in Butler. Daniel worked many jobs over the years and was often called to scrap metal for friends. He started dating Jessica Smith in 2017 and helped raise her son, Abel, and was in the process of officially adopting him. Daniel had a love for the outdoors, whether it was snagging, fishing, or taking his vehicles off-roading. He spent countless hours tinkering with vehicles and loved mowing. He always made sure he was on time at the pick-up line after school to give Abel a ride home. You would not find him without one of his dear dogs by his side.

Daniel is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by the love of his life, Jessica Smith; son, Abel; siblings: Jami Chastain, Stephani Parker, Tyler Chastain, and Cassidy Chastain; and stepmother, Cynthia Chastain. He will be dearly missed by all those who were close to him.
