Dale was born April 11, 1927 in Adrian, Missouri, the son of Harry L. and Willia (Barton) Allen. He attended rural schools and left high school early to enlist in the U. S. Marine Corps and serve in WWII from 1945-1946.
After serving his country, Dale worked in trucking with Hills Truck Line from 1952-1956, and then for BN Transport until 1969. He returned to Adrian and went to work for the City of Adrian in 1993 and worked until his final retirement in 2010.
After his retirement, he maintained a portion of the original family farm and enjoyed outdoor activities and visits with his many friends. He played his guitar daily and was always ready to play music for visitors. His love of music brought him to the Archie House where he enthusiastically chose his last dancing partner and companion, Patricia Lorenz. They enjoyed being together and took several trips together to Nebraska, California, Wyoming and Florida. Dale continued to reside in his home with Patricia until his death.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Gerry Allen, a son, Dale Allen, Jr., and a daughter, Jeanne Lowman. He is survived by his companion, Patricia Lorenz; one daughter, Donna Zielinski; a stepson, Chris Rowland, and numerous grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
