Coy Michael "Mike" Carter, 69, Harrisonville, MO, passed away Wednesday morning, November 13, 2019 at Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville.  Funeral services were held Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Burial in Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, MO.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Harrisonville Animal Shelter.

Mike was born August 4, 1950 in Fayetteville, AR, a son of Coy Murray and Wilma Vivian (Vining) Carter.  He was a 1968 graduate of Lathrop, MO High School and attended college at MSU, Springfield, MO for two years.  He had lived in Kansas City, MO and Springfield, MO before moving to Harrisonville where he has lived for the past 30 years.  Mike married Debbie Sue Morgan on March 15, 1975 in Kansas City.  He worked as a cable repairman for  Southwestern Bell and AT&T for 28 years and was a member of CWA Union.  He also owned and operated, with his family, Shade Tree Farms for 30 years and was  a member of the Simmental Association.

Mike was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Jon Carter.  He is survived by his wife, Debbie, of the home; two daughters, Erin Lockard (Christapher), Butler, MO and Lindsey Carter, Lee's Summit, MO; his mother, Wilma Tippit, Plattsburg, MO; a brother, Timothy Carter, Lake Ozark, MO; a sister, Robin Browne (John), Pleasant Hill, MO; a sister-in-law, Heather Carter, Lathrop, MO; one granddaughter, Morgan Lockard, and other relatives and friends.
