Corey Allen Smith, 19, Belton, Missouri, lost his battle with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy on Monday, February 29, 2016, at his home. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, March 14 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a memorial fund to help defray final expenses. Corey lived most of his life in Belton, Missouri where he attended the Belton School District, graduating in 2015.

Corey leaves behind his mother, Patricia Smith and his brother, Austin Richards, of the home; his father, Jerry Smith, II, Cameron, Missouri, and a sister, Kaitlin Smith, Sedalia, Missouri. Corey has loving grandparents, maternal grandmother, Barbara Knight, Belton, Missouri, paternal grandfather, Leo Parvin, Edwards, Missouri, and maternal great-grandfather, John Brooks, Kansas City, Missouri; aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous other close friends, left to mourn his passing.
