Obituary

Clyde Gile, 96, Peculiar, MO, died Monday, August 1, 2011 at Adrian Manor Nursing Home in Adrian, MO. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 4, 2011 at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville, MO with visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the chapel. Burial will be in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.

Clyde was born May 24, 1915 in Walcott, KS, the son of Lon and Alice (Kingery) Gile. He married Delia M. Lockwood on April 24, 1937 in Olathe, KS. He lived in south Kansas City, MO before moving to Peculiar in 1966.

He was a heavy equipment operator and a member of Local #101 since 1943. He had worked for Kissick Construction and Tri-City Construction before retiring in 1978. He played the fiddle for square dances and in honky tonks. He also raised coon dogs and was an avid coon hunter.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Delia on April 23, 2008, four brothers, Edward, Oscar, Clarence and Ira, three sisters, Kate, Em and Maude and one grandson, Eddie Clark. He is survived by two sons, Kenny Gile and his wife, Misti and Ivyl Gile and his wife, Grace, all of Peculiar, MO; one daughter, Myra Clark, Moberly, MO; one brother, Lon E. Gile, Independence, MO; 8 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
