Clell V. Cox, 95, of Harrisonville, Missouri died Sunday, October 25, 2009 at his home in Harrisonville. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 29, 2009 at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville. Burial will be in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. The family will receive friends 6:30-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 28 at the chapel in Harrisonville. Clell was born October 12, 1914 in Kingsland, Cleveland County, Arkansas, the son of Thadeous Elihue and Addie Mae (Crain) Cox. He was united in marriage to Marie Williams on March 31, 1940. They lived in Arkansas until 1950, when they moved to Kansas City, MO. They have lived in Cass County, Missouri since 1971.

Clell enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and being outdoors. He had worked for the Civilian Conservation Corp. in Arkansas. Clell was an auto mechanic with a 50-year pin from Auto Lodge #778 in Kansas City. During the last year, Good Shepherd Hospice provided assistance and care that enhanced his last days.

Clell was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Elmon, Odell, Leon, Calvin and J.D. Cox, one sister, Lura Cox Childress Lewis, one infant daughter, Loretta Mae Cox, one grandson, James Fletcher Cox and one granddaughter, Stacy Ann Cox. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Marie, of the home; his children, Linda Zans Hoover of Harrisonville, MO, James and Terry Cox of Peculiar, MO and David Cox and Cindy Stoner of Harrisonville, MO; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
