Clara Marie Gordon, 78, Clinton, MO, died Thursday, September 18, 2008 at Golden Living Center Westwood in Clinton, MO. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, September 21, 2008 at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville, MO with visitation from 2:00-3:00 PM Sunday at the chapel. Burial will be in Carpenter Cemetery, Chilhowee, MO. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Heartland Chapter, 3846 West 75th Street, Prairie Village, KS 66208.


Clara was born January 21, 1930 in Bethpage, Tennessee. She married Kenneth E. Gordon on May 17, 1952. On June 30, 2003, she retired with 22 years service from Torotel Products in Grandview, MO. Clara was a member of the New Life Baptist Church in Peculiar, MO. She had lived in Peculiar for 22 years before moving to Clinton.


Clara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kenneth, and a sister, Louise Nash of Peculiar, MO. She is survived by a daughter, Shirley M. Quillin and her husband, George V., Creighton, MO; one grandson, George C. Quillin, Fort Worth, TX; one brother, Willie Durham, Gallatin, TN and numerous nieces and nephews.
