Christina Lavonne Collins, 19, Harrisonville, MO, died Friday, March 23, 2007 near Rock Port, MO. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 29 at the Harrisonville First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harrisonville Public School Foundation – Christina Collins Memorial Fund or to the Christina Collins Memorial Fund at the Allen Bank & Trust in Harrisonville.
Christina was born September 10, 1987 in Houston, TX, the daughter of Steven Robert and Belinda Rae (Muns) Collins. She had lived in Miami, Oklahoma before moving to Harrisonville in 2000. She was a 2006 graduate of Harrisonville High School. Christina was a varsity cheerleader, varsity softball player, freshman mentor, homecoming queen and four-year member of the band where she played the drums. She was a four-year scholar athlete and ranked 10th in her class.
Christina was a freshman at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minnesota, where she had received an academic and athletic scholarship. She was on the University softball team in Marshall.
Christina was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Bobby J. and Wilma L. (Gaines) Collins, maternal grandmother, Doris L. (Melton) Muns and her maternal step-grandmother, Jacqueline (Lajoie) Muns. She is survived by her parents, Steven and Belinda Collins and two sisters, Jennifer R. Collins and Bobbi J. Collins, all of the home and her maternal grandfather, Robert R. Muns, Swainsboro, Georgia.
