Charley Leonard Oyster, 77, El Dorado Springs, MO, formerly of Freeman, MO, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 5, 2009 at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville, MO. Burial will be in Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, MO. Friends may call from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to El Dorado Springs Senior Center.

Charley was born April 14, 1931, in Payne County OK to Thomas Rustle and Alice Mohaley (Broderick) Oyster. He was a graduate of Lockwood, MO High School. On December 10, 1955 he married Marva Jo Michael at the Broadway Christian Church in Wichita KS.

Charley worked for 35 years at Bendix and enjoyed his weekends on "the farm" at Caplinger Mills and retirement in El Dorado Springs. He honorably served his country as part of a tank crew in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed gardening, being at the lake and auctions. Charley was a member of the First Christian Church in El Dorado Springs, MO.

Charley was preceded in death by his wife, Marva, on January 25, 2009, both parents, his little brother, John Alfred, his older brother, George Russel and a special Uncle Elery Oyster. He is survived by his children, Mike Oyster and wife, Stacy, Freeman and their children, Bethany Villaverde and husband, Barry (Brandon, Luke, Jase and Jett), Reid Oyster and wife, Lynette, Pam Caskey and husband, Ron, Pleasant Hill and daughters, Allison and Victoria, John Oyster and wife, Debbie, Drexel and children, Michael Brandord (Justin and Brenna), Shelly Ernst and husband, Robert (Jillian, Halli and Peyton), Tamra Bicknell (Bryce). He is also survived by his sisters, Nettie Myrtle Skaggs and husband, Denzil, Zella May Needham and Clara Louis McMillen.
