Charles R. Myers, 98, of Harrisonville, Missouri, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024 at Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville. Graveside services, with military honors, were held on Friday, September 6, 2024 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kansas City, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to be made to Faith Baptist Church.
Charles was born on August 28, 1926 in Wellsville, KS, to William and Minnie Mae (Thomas) Myers. During high school, he enlisted in the US Navy, serving during World War II. After serving his country, on August 4, 1946, Charles married the love of his life, Ida Henderson, who passed away on January 18, 2024. Their enduring bond and shared values were a testament to their devotion to each other as they raised their five children: Mary, Shirley, Charles Jr., Glenna, and Cindy.
Charles retired as a truck mechanic from Kenworth-Dart. His hard work and passion for his craft left an indelible mark on all those who knew him. Charles found solace in his faith, serving as a Deacon at Church of Christ in Kansas City, KS, and becoming an active member of Faith Baptist Church in Harrisonville, MO.
During his years, Charles was an esteemed member of the Teamsters Local #710 and the VFW, embodying traits of dedication and selflessness. His commitment to charitable causes, alongside his steadfast faith, exemplified his kind, generous, and humorous nature. He will be missed by all those who knew him.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 77 years, Ida; his grandson, Gary Freeman; 2 sisters, and 3 brothers. He is survived by his children: Mary Jarrett of Louisburg, KS; Shirley (Steve) Sebeniecher of Harrisonville, MO; Charles Myers, Jr. of Bonner Springs, KS; Glenna Sue Hurtie of Jacksonville, AL; and Cindy (John) Blomquist of San Antonio, TX; 8 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
