Charles W. Day, 74, Archie, MO, died Friday, June 22, 2007. Funeral services 10:30 AM Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at the First Baptist Church, Archie. Burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian, MO. Visitation 9:30-10:30 AM Tuesday at the church. Mr. Day will lie in state 2:00-7:00 PM Monday at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO. Burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian, MO. Contributions may be made to the church building fund.
Charlie was born May 4, 1933 in Austin, Cass County, MO, the son of Melvin Cyrus and Edna Orilla (Lancaster) Day. He was a 1951 graduate of Archie High School. He was united in marriage to Lois Atkinson on May 23, 1952. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving two years, from 1953-1955. Charlie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Archie and a member of "Hand in Hand" Sunday school class. Charlie was a school bus contractor for the Archie Public School for 28 years, retiring in 2002. From 1985 to present, he worked for the Atkinson Funeral Home in Archie.
Charlie enjoyed supporting his two grandsons in many of their activities. He also enjoyed golfing and had many good times vacationing with friends.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Marie Thomas, two brothers, Aubrey and Bobbie Day. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lois, of the home; two daughters, Vickie Sutton and her husband, Wayne, Archie, MO and Debbie Flowers and her husband, Mike, Ada, OK; one brother, Harold Dean Day and his wife, Donna, Harrisonville, MO; four sisters, Goldie Cunningham, Harrisonville, MO, Anna Maye King and her husband, Guy, Archie, MO, Peggy Tallman, Harrisonville, MO and Joy Crook and her husband, Joe, Archie, MO; two grandsons, Derrick Sutton and his wife, Kim and Ryan Sutton and his wife, Lacy, all of Archie, MO; five great-grandchildren, Dylan and Kaden Sutton and Alyssa, Jordan and Hunter Sutton and a host of family and friends.
