Charles E. Coleman, 84, of Freeman, Missouri, passed away Friday, May 15, 2020 at his home in Freeman.  A private family funeral was held Thursday, May 21, 2020 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO, followed by burial in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.

Charles was born June 13, 1935 in Decaturville, Missouri, a son of Lawrence and Grace May (Denney) Coleman. He grew up in the Camdenton, Missouri area. Charles loved to play basketball and was a 1953 graduate of Camdenton High School.  Charles was united in marriage to Kathryn "JoAnn" Baldwin, October 6, 1956. They had lived in Kansas City, Kansas, and Peculiar, Missouri before moving to Freeman in 2006. Charles was a supervisor for the Gas Service Co. in Kansas City 35 years before his retirement in 1992. He loved the farm and chasing after his cows.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, JoAnn, on December 1, 2009; a granddaughter, Scharlie Cantrell, on September 25, 2015;  and a brother, Kenneth Coleman.  He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Robert Cantrell, of Freeman; a brother, Louis Coleman, Kansas City, KS; and four nieces, Pat Coleman Shanks, Janet Coleman Manis, Sandygaye Coleman and Sue Coleman Schulze.
