Charles (Charlie) Oliver Bridges, 89, of Adrian, Missouri passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Saturday, July 7, 2018. Memorial services were held Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian, MO. There will not be a graveside service as Charlie wished to be cremated.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mt. Olivet Church, 8255 NE County Rd. 9004, Butler, MO 64730.

Charlie was born in Willow Springs, Missouri on March 21, 1929 to John Thomas Bridges, Sr. and Anna Isabelle Dunning-Smith (Bridges). At the age of 17 Charlie enlisted in the United States Army Air Corp. where he worked his way to the rank of Corporal and eventually Buck Sergeant. Charlie served with the military for three years before returning home on December 9, 1949.

On January 29, 1950, Charlie married the love of his life Martha Lou Wells (Bridges). Charlie and Martha lived their married life in Blue Springs, Missouri, Polo, Missouri, and for the last 52 years in Adrian, Missouri where they raised their three boys: Martin Oliver Bridges, wife Vicki of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Michael Leroy Bridges, wife Carolyn of Amsterdam, Missouri, and Rodney Lee Bridges, late wife Diane of Adrian, Missouri.

In Charlie's 89 years of life he provided for his family by being a farmer, working at Westinghouse and Continental Oil Company, owned Bridges LP Gas and Bridges Heating and Cooling, and worked several years as a maintenance worker at Miami R-1 School.

Charlie was preceded in death by his father, John Thomas Bridges, his mother, Anna Isabelle Dunning (Bridges), 5 sisters, 4 brothers, and his daughter-in-law, Dianna Louise Bridges. Survivors include his wife, Martha, their three boys, his brother, Ted and Rosalie Bridges of Adrian, MO, 20 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
