Catherine Edna Stewart, 90, Archie, MO, died Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at Heartland of Willow Lane in Butler, MO. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 20, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Archie with visitation from 9:00-10:00 AM Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian, MO. Catherine was born December 9, 1917 in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Jesse and Katherine (Bingham) Searcy. She married John David Stewart on November 8, 1933. Catherine was a member of the First Baptist Church in Archie and attended Sunday school class. She was also a member of Archie Senior Citizens.
Catherine loved gospel singing. She had worked at the sewing factory in Garden City, MO and also at Pratt & Whitney during the war. She had lived in Archie since 1951.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John on January 16, 2002. She is survived by two sons, Jesse Stewart and his wife, Linda, Butler, MO and John David Stewart and his wife, Phyllis, Rockville, MO; one daughter, Sylvia Ellis and her husband, Norman, Baldwin City, KS; one sister, Sarah Staton, Sugar Creek, MO; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
