Catherine Erma Morgan, 85, Garden City, Missouri, died Thursday, March 12, 2015 at her daughter's home in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 16, 2015 at the New Covenant Fellowship Church in Garden City with burial in Austin Cemetery, Archie, Missouri. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 15 at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Austin Cemetery.
Catherine, aka "Granny Morgan" and "Little Grandma", was born June 26, 1929 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Charles Raymond and Thelma Grace (Nolen) Lowe. She graduated from Ballard High School in 1947. She married Ellis Armon Morgan on September 5, 1947 in Independence, Missouri.
After starting a family, Catherine worked at the Garden City School and Sherwood School in the cafeteria, along with several other jobs. In the early 1980's, Catherine became a born-again Christian and was baptized at Bethel Assembly in Garden City. Catherine enjoyed life by keeping in touch with family and friends. In later years, she became "Granny" to everyone. She enjoyed reading and doing her word find books.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ellis on August 7, 2002, an infant son, William Ellis and an infant great-granddaughter, Faith Ann Morgan. She is survived by four sons, John Raymond Morgan and wife, Rhonda, James Preston Morgan and wife, Mitzi, all of Garden City, Missouri, Ronald Gayle Morgan and wife, Debbie, Archie, Missouri and Frances Riley, Adrian, Missouri; one daughter, Loretta Kay DeBrot and husband, Mark, Pleasant Hill, Missouri; two sisters, Patricia Deardorff, Kansas City, Missouri and Donna Wilson, Harrisonville, Missouri; 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Catherine loved her family, grandkids and great-grandkids, and will be greatly missed by all.
