IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carson Levi
Elmer
December 23, 2001 – February 10, 2020
Carson Levi Elmer, 18, of Adrian, MO passed away Monday, February 10, 2020 in Virginia, MO in a motor vehicle accident. A celebration of Carson's life were held Friday, February 14 at the Adrian United Methodist Church, under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home, Adrian, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Adrian United Methodist Church or Boy Scout Troop 238.
Carson was born Sunday, December 23, 2001 in Butler, MO to Mark and Melinda (Enos) Elmer. Carson was home educated since Kindergarten, and was to graduate in May, 2020 along with his girlfriend, Victoria Newkirk. Carson joined Boy Scouts of America / Adrian, MO Cub Scout Pack 238 in the first grade as a Tiger Cub, completing all ranks, including Arrow of Light in 2013. He finished his Scouting career as a member of Adrian, MO Boy Scout Troop 238, completing all ranks, including Eagle in December, 2017. Carson followed a long line of family Scouters, and was the 10 th Eagle Scout in his family along with his Enos uncles and cousins, and his brothers. In October, 2017, with the help of fellow Boy Scouts and leaders, he completed his Eagle project at Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian, MO, placing American flag holders at the graves of at least 514 American Veteran soldiers.
Carson was a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, elevated to the rank of Runner. As a Tribesman, he chose the name Runner Third Son of Mockingbird, Builder of Lodge. He attended H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation every year as a Boy Scout, and served on Bartle staff in the summer of 2018 teaching handicraft merit badge classes. In his Scouting career, Carson also earned bronze, silver and gold palms, God and Life Award, Religious coups, Den Chief coups, H. Roe Bartle staff coups, Coup of the Long Trail, 50-Miler Award, snorkeling and the World Conservation Award. In July, 2017 Carson and the High Adventure Crew of Boy Scout Troop 238, along with his dad, Mark, traveled by train to Cimarron, NM to hike the mountains of Philmont Scout Ranch. They hiked 68 miles in 10 days, carrying all of their gear on their backs, before returning home. Along with fellow Scouts, Carson put his wilderness survival knowledge into action, aiding a leader in self-rescue on the side of a mountain. Carson was also a member of the Adrian United Methodist Church.
Carson was employed by The Family Center in Harrisonville, MO in the small engines department, along with Adrian Service Center, where he was hired January 3, 2020 as a beginner mechanic, but always wished for more challenging tasks. Carson's pursuit was to be an automobile mechanic as an adult. He maintained his own lawn service for several summers, and enjoyed being a farm hand for his neighbors; and was always willing to help anyone when called upon. Carson enjoyed driving his dirt bike down country roads, and jumping mounds out in the pasture. In 2018 he rebuilt the top end of his newest dirt bike "so it would run faster" (and it did). He loved the outdoors…hunting, fishing and spending time in the woods, cooking by campfire and camping under low-hanging cedar trees. He was an expert marksman with his firearms. Carson had a quick sense of humor and a memorable grin. He believed in helping the younger and weaker. He loved his family, and spending his days with Victoria.
Carson is survived by his parents of the home, Mark and Melinda Elmer; two brothers, Hayden Elmer of Archie, MO and Landon Elmer of Adrian, both of whom he dearly loved and looked to for guidance and direction; two nephews, Derrick (who considered Uncle Carson "his best friend in all the world") and Gavin Elmer; his sweetheart, Victoria Newkirk; many aunts and uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Esco and Daisy Elmer; maternal grandparents, Francis (Frank) and Mary Lou Enos, and cousins, Travis Enos and Aaron Biellier.
