Carolyn Marie Lukens, 90, Raymore, Missouri died Friday, December 5, 2014 at The Rehabilitation Center of Raymore, Raymore, Missouri. Funeral services will be 9:30am Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri. Burial, 2:00pm Tuesday, December 9, 2014  Springfield National Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri.

Carolyn was born February 19, 1924 in Longmont, Colorado, a daughter of Dale Frances and Francis Elizabeth (Brown) Kearney. She grew up in Denver and graduated from high school in Denver in 1942.


Carolyn was united in marriage to James Robert Lukens, February 10, 1943 in Denver, Colorado. After James's retirement from the military they moved to West Plains, Missouri. Carolyn was a administrative assistant for the Social Security Administration 32 years before her retirement. She was a Catholic and a life member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. After the death of her husband, Lt. Colonel James R. Lukens in 1988, she moved to Raymore, MO to be closer to her family.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James, a son, Michael Alan Lukens, and a sister, Kathleen. She is survived by a son, James Robert "Bob" Lukens II, and wife Deborah, Raymore, MO; a daughter, Barbara Dale Thomas, and husband, Kenny, Wenden, AZ. Seven grandchildren, Twenty-one great-grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.
