Carole Parslow Runnenburger, 87, of Harrisonville, MO passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Carnegie Village in Belton, MO. Memorial Services will be on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Harrisonville, Missouri with a luncheon to follow services at the church. Private inurnment will take place at Orient Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Episcopal Church or to the Dr. William Baker Choral Foundation.
Carole was born June 5, 1935 in St. Paul, Minnesota, a daughter of Max and Irmal (Arveson) Parslow. Carole had lived in St. Paul, MN, before moving to Harrisonville in 1958. Carole taught baton lessons to many children in Harrisonville. She worked for Bendix/Allied Signal/Honeywell as an administrative assistant for 32 years before retiring. She was a certified Laubach Reading Tutor at Honeywell and at Harrisonville Career Center.
Carole was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Harrisonville; member and past president of Chapter GR P.E.O.; and a member and past president of Chaldeans Federated Club. Carole was a member of the Garden City Community Choir for many years, singing with the choir for their annual Garden City Community Choir Easter cantata and also sang at local churches. She was a member of the William Baker Summer Singers of Kansas City who performed with the Kansas City Symphony Orchestra. Carole was a volunteer at Cass Regional Medical Center and a member of the Auxiliary. She was a former American Cancer Society Service Chairman, and a former member and past president of the American Field Service. Carole was listed in the 1967 edition of Outstanding Young Women of America.
Carole was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Dennis Harris. She is survived by one son, Stephen Runnenburger, Harrisonville, MO; one daughter, Beth Newton (Gary), Columbia, MO; three grandchildren: Samantha Galloway (Jonah), Danielle Ryan (Adam), and Benjamin Newton; one great-granddaughter, Brileigh Ryan; one sister, Mary Harris, St. Paul, MN; and extended family and friends.
