Carl Mitchell Urton, 71, Rich Hill, Missouri, died Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville with burial in Wills Cemetery, Peculiar, Missouri. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, June 30 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Memorial contributions may be made to charity of choice.

Carl was born June 24, 1943 in Peculiar, Missouri, the son of Carl J. and Callie Lulu (Hoenschell) Urton. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He had worked for the GSA for 35 years before retiring. Carl loved to farm and quail hunt. He was a quiet man with a gift of storytelling. He loved history and enjoyed traveling, and had been many places all over the United States. He especially enjoyed traveling with his grandchildren. Carl was baptized before his death.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Kathryn Whited. He is survived by one son, Troy Urton and his wife, Deanne, Amsterdam, Missouri; one daughter, Tammy Thieme and her husband, Mike, Harrisonville, Missouri; two sisters, Violet Evans, Independence, Missouri and Dorothy Loyd, Peculiar, Missouri and 5 grandchildren, Megan Roach, Erika Roach, Amy Roach, Clayton Urton and Cauy Urton.
