Obituary

Carl H. Selle, age 67, of Adrian, Mo. died on February 19, 2013 at his home in Adrian. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 25 at the First Baptist Church in Adrian. Burial will be in Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian. Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

Carl was born on October 7, 1945, in Buckner, Mo., the son of Edwin John and Mary Ann (Carson) Selle. Carl, one of ten children, grew up in Waverly, Mo. until the age of 12 when his family then moved to Horton, Ks. where he attended Powhattan High School until graduation. After Carl was out of school he worked on the Oswald dairy farm for a brief period before going to work at Armco Steel in Kansas City, MO.

In 1968 Carl was called to service in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1971. During his service he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. After his service he returned to his employment at Armco Steel.

On June 30, 1973, Carl was joined in marriage to Naomi J. North, of Macks Creek, Mo. In their 39 years of marriage they had three sons, Vic, Steven and Brad. The family resided in Shawnee, Ks. until August of 1986. Carl and his family then moved to a small farm in rural Adrian, Mo., where he enjoyed raising cattle, crops, and baling hay while still working at Armco Steel.

In August of 2001, Carl retired from Wire Rope Corporation of America, formerly Armco Steel. Shortly after retirement he began to lose his sight and started down a road of many serious health issues, yet all the while had a smile on his face and thanked the Lord for every moment and everything he still had. Carl's love for family is one that was a shining example to all who knew him. He dearly enjoyed time spent with all of his family, especially his grandchildren. All throughout Carl's life he was a very dedicated and loving family man.

He was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Adrian, where he served for many years as a Sunday school teacher and Deacon. He was able to touch the lives of many people through his good nature and devotion to the Lord. Carl always sought to share the love of Jesus, that he knew so well, with each person he encountered.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Mary; four brothers, Francis, Maury, E.J. and Fred; two sisters Lorena and Florence; one infant son, Steven. He is survived by his wife, Naomi Selle of Adrian, Mo; two sons, Vic Selle of Butler, Mo. and Brad Selle and wife, Becky, of Nixa, Mo.; three grandchildren, Ashton, Alexis and Aubrey of Nixa, Mo.; one brother, Earl Selle and wife, Debbie, of Horton, Ks.; two sisters, Louise Kessner and husband, Don, of Lee's Summit, Mo. and Ruth Lentz of Valley Falls, Ks.; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives.
