Burton "Burt" John Bracken, 63, Cross Timbers, Missouri, formerly of Freeman, Missouri, died Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 13 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri. Inurnment will be in Freeman Cemetery at a later date.

Burt was born February 2, 1951 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Ray and Betsy (Kraft) Bracken. He was raised in the Freeman, Missouri area. He moved to Cross Timbers in 1999. Burt had worked in commercial construction for several years and for the past 25 years he had worked in home health care, helping handicap people. He loved taking care of people and his animals.

Burt was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Billy Bracken, four sisters, Thela Hays, Verla Brooks, Viola Moon and Betty James. He is survived by his wife, Gail Rudolph, of the home; one son, Craig Bracken (Dawn), Basehor, Kansas; one daughter, Maryann Bracken (Julie Burner), Kansas City, Missouri; two stepsons, Brandon and Cory Rudolph; 2 grandchildren, Audrey and Emmy; a sister-in-law, Nadine Bracken and several nieces and nephews.

Burt raised a lot of kids throughout the years and he will be missed.
