Bobby "Bob" Gene Meyer, 86, Harrisonville, MO, died Sunday, May 28, 2017 at his home. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville with burial in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association or Kansas City Hospice.
Bob was born November 21, 1930 in Sedalia, MO, the son of Henry E. and Opal (Hamm) Meyer. He was a U.S. Marine Corps/Air Force veteran. Bob married Patricia Vaughn on April 2, 1947 in Boonville, MO. He had lived in Kansas City, KS, Smithville, MO, and the Bethel area of Kansas City, KS until moving to Harrisonville in 1974. Bob worked for the Katy Railroad as transportation supervisor in Kansas City, KS from 1954-1975. In 1976 he started Meyer Trucking in Kansas City and was the main transport of ACME Brick Plant in Harrisonville. In 1999 he started Eagle Trailer in Harrisonville and ran that until 2014.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Steven Meyer. He is survived by his wife, Pat, of the home; three sons, Mike Meyer, Overland Park, KS, Robert K. Meyer, Bonner Springs, KS, and Richard M. Meyer, Harrisonville, MO; one daughter, Kristi Osborn, Harrisonville, MO; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
