Obituary

Beverly Ann Brucker was a resident of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, for 32 years. She was born on May 29, 1944, at St Joseph's in Kansas City, MO, the oldest child of John Joseph Browne, Sr. and Helen Broberg, but was formally adopted by John's 2nd wife, Lois June Browne (Fitch). In her memory book, written in 1999, all of her fondest childhood memories are of her Grandma Browne, Grandma Fitch, and Aunt Elizabeth Browne. Particularly delighted that Aunt Elizabeth woke her with a handful of chocolate kisses during her weekend stays, and the trolly rides with her Grandma Fitch.

Baptized when she was four years old at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Kansas City, MO. Beverly also had peaceful memories of attending Mass every morning before school at St. Rose of Lima of KCKS. She loved the nuns and aspired to become one. First Baptist Church of Pleasant Hill, MO, became home church during her time there.

Beverly graduated high school in 1962 and married Harrison J (Hank) Henry in Knob Noster, MO, in May of 1964. Together they had two children: Michael Harrison Henry and Shari June Henry.

After her divorce from Hank, she and her children moved to Smithville, MO, with her second husband, Wilbur G (Buster) Abner, who passed away in 1978. Subsequently, Beverly worked as an aide at the Smithville Convalescent Center for many years and loved the tenants there like they were part of her family.

Later, she moved to Kansas City with her daughter where she met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Brucker. Bob married Beverly in June of 1987 in Miami, Oklahoma. For 5.5 years they were like young newlyweds - the happiest their families had ever seen them while they restored their little red house and adventured around on various trips. Ireland being her favorite.

Beverly did not remarry after Bob's passing in 1993. But she found joy in visiting with step-daughter, Judy, and family and her Pleasant Hill neighbors; in her flowers and house plants; a 50th birthday gift of a Caribbean Cruise with her daughter; and in the dogs she adopted over the years - Bullet, Lady, Hanz & Schultz, and Bean. She was also an avid reader and crocheter of beautiful afghans. But certainly, the greatest joy in the second half of life was when she became a grandma herself to Quinn Henry, born October 27, 2009.

After a brief stay at the Golden Years Assisted Living Facility in Harrisonville, MO, in the early morning hours of Monday, January 5, 2026 Beverly went on to eternal rest with her Lord Jesus at the age of 81.

She is survived by her son, Mike Henry, and his wife, Paula, and their son, Quinn, of Edwardsville, Illinois; and daughter, Shari Henry, of Colorado Springs, Colorado. In addition, her step-children: Steve, Bill, Judy, Nancy, Bob, Jr., and Jerry; plus their many children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; brother, John Browne, Jr. and his wife, Robin, of Pleasant Hill, MO; their two children, Curtis and Sarah; and her sister, Sherri Browne Aronson, of Blue Springs, MO. She was preceded in death by her beloved, Bob Brucker (1993); and her parents, John Browne, Sr. (1998) and Lois June Browne (2008).

She will be cremated at Atkinson Funeral Home of Harrisonville, MO. Celebration of Life services are pending. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Brighton Hospice.
