Betty Ruth Rinker, 78, Harrisonville, MO, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Lee's Summit Medical Center in Lee's Summit, MO, with her family by her side. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 3, 2017 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO, with visitation from 10:00-11:00. Burial will be in Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ovarian Cancer Association.

Betty was born August 3, 1938 in Creighton, MO, the only child of Ellis Doc and Mabel (Douty) Woodring. She attended school in Harrisonville and lived in Lee's Summit, MO and Grandview, MO before moving to Harrisonville.

On September 19, 1953, Betty married Bert Morris Rinker in the home of Reverend Brewster of Freeman, MO. Bert and Betty were married for 63 years. In those 63 years, Betty and Bert built a beautiful life, starting with being blessed with three boys, Bert Morris Rinker, III (Patti Lee), Bret Monroe Rinker (Patti), and Bart Paul Rinker (Melissa). Betty was later blessed with 10 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

Along with being a homemaker to her husband and 3 boys, Betty held a position selling advertising at the local Harrisonville newspaper, The Democrat-Missourian, for 15 years. Betty enjoyed golf and crocheting.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Lee's Summit Medical Center for the care and consideration given to Betty and her family during her time at the hospital.
