Betty Jean Hinken, 76, of Harrisonville, Missouri, died Friday, February 1, 2013 at her home in Harrisonville. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Harrisonville. Private burial will be in the Garden City Cemetery in Garden City, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Interstitial Cystitis Association or the Celiac Association.
Betty was born July 7, 1936 near Latour, Johnson County, Missouri to Roy Victor and Opal Fern (Edmonds) Hinken. She was a 1954 graduate of Harrisonville High School and had attended Central Missouri State in Warrensburg, Missouri. She was a secretary for the Air Force at Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base in Belton, Missouri and then worked for the General Service Administration (GSA) in Kansas City, Missouri before her retirement.
She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Harrisonville, and had taught Sunday school for over 50 years.
Betty is survived by a sister, Marilyn Parks and husband, Lowell, Kansas City, Missouri, many cousins, other relatives and friends.
