Betty Jean Hammond of Peculiar, MO died Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2010 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO. Visitation will be from 12:30-1:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Peculiar Cemetery, Peculiar, MO.
Betty was born November 24, 1927 in Colorado, the daughter of David and Millie (Rice) Miller. She married George Hammond on February 7, 1944.
Betty grew up in Kansas City, Kansas. She lived in Kansas City, MO before moving to Peculiar. She was a homemaker.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Mike and Phil Hammond, five sisters, Bessie Andrews, Martha Barry, Eula Mathern, Paulene Southard and LaVerne Wyman, three brothers, David Miller, Leo Miller and Bobby Miller. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, George, of the home; one sister, Maxine Lee of Lenexa, KS; one granddaughter, Nova Jean and her husband, Jonathan of New York, NY; two great-grandchildren, Hayden and Savannah Hall; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
