Betty was born April 25, 1927 in Adrian, Missouri, on what was known as the "old Sullins place", west of Adrian. She was the youngest child of Charles and Luretta (Sullins) Fortsch. As a child, she delivered milk with her family from the Forstch dairy in Adrian. She attended Liberty and Hess schools and graduated from Adrian High School in 1945.
She moved to Arizona shortly after graduation where she married and five of her children were born. The family returned to Adrian in 1961 where Charles, the youngest, was born. She then worked at Western Electric until marrying James Enos on June 13, 1975. Betty and Jim cared for their family and their Angus Cattle until Jim died on June 6, 2012.
Betty stayed on the farm with their cattle until her death after a brief illness. Her family has fond memories of her homemade noodles, family dinners, beautiful handwork, enjoying grandchildren, gardening and making her famous crocheted scrubbies. Betty also enjoyed surprise visits to her children, even if it was out of state.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents one brother, three sisters, and her husband, Jim. She is survived by her six children, Jerry (Rex) Griffith, Ballard, Missouri; Frances Hoxsey, Appleton City, Missouri; Jack Greife, Gilbert, Arizona; Toni (Zak) Rowan, Grand Lake, Colorado; Ed Greife, Fairbanks, Alaska; Charles (Dallas) Greife, Adrian, Missouri; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
