Obituary

Jeannie Arnold, 81, of Warsaw, MO, passed away on Friday morning, January 2, 2026, at the University of Kansas Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. Memorial services were held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian, Mssouri. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Benton County Food Pantry would be greatly appreciated.

Jeannie was born to Heber Martin and Hazel Elizabeth (Fry) Villers at their family home in Lexington, Missouri, the youngest of nine children, on November 9, 1944. She leaves behind the most precious legacy of being the best mom to her girls and was blessed by becoming a grandma to 12 grandchildren and 13 ½ great-grandchildren. She moved with her family to Independence, Missouri, at a young age, where she finished school. In the early sixties, her family moved to the Adrian/Butler areas, where she soon followed. In July of 1964, the first of her five favorite daughters would be born. In the early 70's, she moved from Butler to Adrian and resided there until 2008.

In 1976, Jeannie became one of the first employees to work for the newly opened Adrian Manor Nursing Home. A job she took great pride in. She was a valuable employee working as a charge nurse and a certified medicine technician until her retirement in 2007. She loved and cared for the residents and her coworkers as though they were her own family. She could do more. She became a weather watcher and an EMT and worked with some of her best friends on the Adrian Ambulance Service.

Something extra special about Jeannie, was how selfless she was. She was always doing something special for someone. Acts of kindness like purchasing Christmas presents with her own money for residents without family, bringing children home from an ambulance run because their parents were hospitalized (without a second thought) and ringing the bell for the Salvation Army every year. That says a lot for a little lady who was always freezing! She always sacrificed for herself to ensure she could give to others in need. It was rare for her to buy something for herself. She was a joyful giver and taught her daughters 'it is better to give than to receive'. She meant it and she lived it.

In the early 80's, she started a ceramic shop in her basement and eventually opened a shop in Harrisonville with friends. Through the years she loved traveling with her family and friends, cherished her grandchildren, owning a flower shop with her daughters, LOTS of coffee and sweet tea, cooking for her family and game days (especially cards and her homemade marble game), ALL the holidays and she loved decorating her place for Christmas. Her family teased she had a "little Plaza". She especially enjoyed the simple things in life. She loved being outdoors, taking care of her yard, gardening, her flowers, fishing, the real country music, the mountains, and sitting on her deck with a cup of coffee was her happy place, and she spent hours out there. But family time was the thing treasured the most.

Weekends were for family time at her house. Every weekend her family came home and you can guarantee she had cooked a great meal for everyone to enjoy and hours of game time was to follow. If it was football season, you can bet the Kansas City Chiefs game was on and you better be in red!

In April, 2008 Jeannie made one more move to Warsaw, MO. Being the busy body that she is, she didn't stay retired for long. She soon started volunteering at the Benton County Food Pantry. Soon she would become the (volunteer) pantry manager. Another job she took great delight in doing.

Her proudest accomplishment by far was her five daughters, but everyone knows that! Her faithful dog Ty (who had Jeannie well trained mind you) and all those grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They all have a very special bond. She was a devout Christian, very much loved and respected and she will be so dearly missed by all whose lives she has touched.

Jeannie is survived by her beloved schnauzer Ty; one brother: Heber "Junior" Villers, Jr of Arkansas City, KS; her daughters: Tammy Politte of Rich Hill, MO; Terry (Steve) Williams of Adrian, MO; Tracy (Larry "Pepper" ) Webber of Harrisonville, MO; and Tisha (Michael) Costigan of Belton, MO. Grandchildren: Hannah Politte, Jackie (CJ) Jones, Heather (Alan) Horn, Brittany (Brad) Driver, Brandon Williams, Emily (Justin) Harris, Haylea (Trace) Evans, Derrold Costigan, Samantha (Alex) Rushly, Harley Loper, Jessica Loper and Great-Grandchildren: Paityn, Parker, Kirah,Beau, Evan, Evalynn, Nova, Austynn, Camryn, Everleigh, McKenzie, Atticus, Evren and baby Rollie coming soon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her youngest daughter Tonya Dawn Hockett, and her first grandsonSteven Travis Williams; son-in-law Charles Sterling "Chuck" Politte; and siblings: Pearl Zimmerman; James "Jim" Villers; twins Edgar "Pop" and Edward "Specks" Villers; Lucille Hunsaker; Louis Donald Villers; and Walter Teddy "Butch" Villers.
