Bessie May Shelton, 91, Harrisonville, MO, died Friday, January 4, 2008 at Centerpoint Medical Center, Independence, MO. Services 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville. Burial in Sharon Cemetery, Drexel, MO. Visitation 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, January 7 at the chapel. Contributions to Harrisonville Senior Citizens Center.

Bessie was born March 26, 1916 in Everett, MO, the daughter of James Charles and Gracie (Brewer) Herrell. She was a lifelong Cass County area resident. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Archie, MO. Bessie was a homemaker.

Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, three sons, Larry, Carl and Richard Shelton, three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by two sons, Jr. Shelton, Drexel, MO and Perry Shelton and his wife, Nancy, Harrisonville, MO; four daughters, Shirley Kunkel, North Kansas City, MO, Vivian Holmes, Warner Robbins, GA, Dorothy Olmstead, Independence, MO and Jeanette Martinette, Chattanooga, TN; 24 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
