Bertha Mamie Slager, 84, Cleveland, MO, died Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at K. U. Medical Center, Kansas City, KS. Bertha was born February 15, 1922 in Lone Jack, MO, the daughter of Alfred and Mamie H. (Anderson) Johnson. She grew up in the Holden, MO and Warrensburg, MO area.
Bertha lived in Independence, MO before moving to Freeman in 1955. She worked at Lake City Arsenal in the early 1950's. Bertha also was a cattle rancher and a farmer. She was a member of Drexel Church of the Nazarene.
Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Slager on May 26, 1979 and one son, B. Delon Thompson on January 3, 2006. She is survived by one son, Kenneth Thompson, Frankfort, KY; two daughters, Eva Sharon Wirsig and Connie Jean Thurman, both of Cleveland, MO; her first husband, Hugh R. Thompson, Cleveland, MO; one sister, Cleo Elliott, Stockton, MO; 8 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
