Benjamin "Ben" Franklin Anderson, Jr., 90, Adrian, MO, went home to his Jesus on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Meadow View of Harrisonville in Harrisonville, MO. Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Adrian with burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian.
Ben was born December 29, 1930 in Silver Springs, MD, one of seven children born to Benjamin Franklin and Dora (DuVall) Anderson, Sr. He was raised in Laytonsville, MD. The family moved to Des Moines, IA in 1942. Ben enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1949 and was in three major battles during the Korean War. In 1959, he married Barbara J. Stone.
His number one love was anything on wheels, especially Fords. He was a highway construction worker for many years. He was also a mechanic for many years at Ford Motor Dealerships until retiring in December, 1979, due to heart by-pass surgery. He always found something to do and was a very hard worker.
Ben and Barbara, moved to Adrian in 1975. He asked Jesus to be his Savior on June 12, 1994 and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Adrian. He was very faithful, reading God's word every day and always praying for others every morning.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters, two step-grandchildren and one step-twin daughter. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, of the home; one daughter, SueEllen Calhoun and her husband, Jim, Charlottesville, VA; one brother, Tom Anderson and his wife, Lenora, Glendale, CA; one step-daughter, Mary Smith, Prineville, OR; two step-sons, Fred Smith, Carlisle, AR and Ron Smith and his wife, Norma, Bloomington, IN; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Ben had a great way of making people laugh. I pray that when you think of my husband, Ben, it will put a smile on your face.
