Obituary
Bart Allen Van Meter was born August 22, 1972 to William Robert and Sharon Lavonne (Mayfield) Van Meter at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler, MO. Bart sadly departed his life on January 24, 2021 at his home in Kansas City, MO. Bart was proceeded in death by his father and both paternal and maternal grand-parents. Bart is survived by 3 daughters, Jordyn Garey and husband Evan of Platte City, MO, Kinsey Van Meter and Kendall Van Meter both of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Bart is also survived by mother Sharon Houchen of Flemington, MO, sister Stacy Barber and husband Elvis of Amarillo, TX. Bart was also survived by three brothers, Robert Van Meter, wife Michelle of Lee's Summit, Mo, Dustin Van Meter and wife Tabatha of Butler, MO, and Jason Dallen, wife Rachael of Henderson, NV. Bart was also survived by several wonderful Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
Bart Graduated from Raymore Peculiar High School in 1990. After graduating high school Bart joined the US Navy and served as Electronics Specialist aboard the USS Compte De Grasse during Desert Storm and until his departure from the Navy in 1996. Upon leaving the Navy Bart married and resided in Virginia and Pennsylvania until he moved back to Missouri.
Services were held January 29th with Military Honors at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian, MO. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Salvation Army or a charity of choice.
