Avis "Maxine" Davis, 84, Harrisonville, Missouri, died Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Benchmark Healthcare of Harrisonville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 14 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Burial will be in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Maxine was born March 31, 1928 in Ft. Madison, Iowa to Robert and Nellie (Deye) Simpkins. She worked as a seamstress for King Louie International.

Maxine loved quilting, garage sales and traveling. She was a member of the Happy Homemakers Ladies Club and the Red Hat Club, Bodacious Girlfriends Happy Hatters, in Harrisonville.

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Davis, her parents and one daughter, Carol Sue Shepherd. She is survived by a son, John Davis and his wife, Gwen of Garden City, Missouri; one granddaughter, April Dawn Lackey of Osceola, Missouri; four great-grandchildren, Austin, Michael, Allison and Katelin, all of Osceola, Missouri; other great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She will be truly missed.
