Obituary

Avida "Vie" Mae Kinzinger, 78, of Warrensburg, Missouri, formerly of Harrisonville, MO, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Lee's Summit Medical Center in Lee's Summit, MO. A private inurnment will be held at Orient Cemetery in Harrisonville at a later date.

Avida was born in Concordia, Kansas, on July 23, 1946, a daughter of Leo Richard and Coraalice Mae (Patterson)Ross. She was a 1964 graduate of Salina, Kansas, High School and a 1968 graduate of Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, MO. Vie joined the US Army her senior year in college and spent the next four years serving her country, receiving her discharge as a Captain in 1971.

She was united in marriage to Andrew Kinzinger, Jr. on October 5, 1971, in Jacksonville, Florida. They moved to Harrisonville in 1984, and Avida worked as a cook for the Harrisonville Head Start Program for a few years, and then became a case worker for the Missouri Division of Family Services, retiring in 2013. They moved to Warrensburg in 2022 and Avida had just recently moved into the Missouri Veterans Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Leo; her husband; her son, Andrew Kinzinger, III; and her daughter, Corinne Kinzinger. Avida is survived by a daughter, Amy Medrano and spouse, Monico Medrano, Clinton, MO; two sisters: Nannette Blackwood and Rita Schindler, both of Harrisonville, MO; six grandchildren: Brandon, Adam and Colin Rogers, and Anthony, Tristan and Shania Medrano; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
