Artie Fay Smith, 81, Freeman, MO, died Friday, August 31, 2007 at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, MO. Funeral services 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 5 at Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville, MO. Burial in Peculiar Cemetery, Peculiar, MO. Visitation 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday at the chapel.

Artie Fay was born November 1, 1925 in Mangum, OK, the daughter of Yewell W. and Lena (O'Dell) Roper. She married Louis Alfred Smith on August 12, 1945. Artie Fay worked for Pratt Whitney during WWII. She had lived in the Freeman area since 1945. Artie was a homemaker. She was a member of the Freeman Baptist Church.

Artie Fay was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Larry and her husband, Louis, on August 28, 1993. She is survived by one daughter, Marvia Smith, Peculiar, MO; one brother, Vernon Roper, Butler, OK; two sisters, Nada Baker and Letha DuPree, both of Butler, OK; one granddaughter, Kaye Eicholz, Drexel, MO and three great-grandchildren, Dustin Edmundson, Melody Eicholz and Taylor Eicholz.
