Arthur "Art" Spencer, 82, Lee's Summit, MO, formerly of Harrisonville, MO, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2021 at John Knox Village Care Center in Lee's Summit, MO.  Masonic Services and Funeral services were held  Saturday, March 13, 2021 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville.   Burial  in Peculiar Cemetery, Peculiar, MO.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Arthur was born to the late Arthur L. and Agnes Shanks Spencer, an engineer and a homemaker in Bellshill, Scotland, on March 29, 1938. In his younger years, he spent many happy hours roaming the moors and investigating old castle ruins with his cousin, David. One of their favorite places was the Auld Wives Lifts, which were three gigantic rocks in the middle of a marsh. Arthur earned a Mechanical Engineering degree from Stow College of Engineering in Glasgow.

Arthur was united in marriage to the love of his life, Mary Simpson Ogilvie. They were married at St. James Pollok Church in Glasgow, Scotland on July 17, 1959. Soon after he accepted a position in Canada and immigrated to Montreal in 1959. A few years later he would move to the United States.

He was employed as Project Manager, Director and Manager of Projects for several major corporations. They lived and traveled the world with his jobs before retiring in Harrisonville, MO. In 2009, the Spencer's moved to Raintree Lake, Lee's Summit, MO, finally moving to John Knox Village in 2019.

Arthur joined Masonic Lodge Nitshill No.1478, Glasgow, Scotland in 1958, and affiliated with Cass Masonic Lodge #147 in Harrisonville in 2002. He served as secretary of Cass Masonic Lodge from 2002-2006 and received his 50-year member pin in 2009. Arthur was a car enthusiast, loved hunting and fishing and excelled in wood working and was a friend to all. He always had a quip or two at the ready and that twinkle in his eye gave him away — he was a jokester. Arthur had a long journey with cancer. He lived courageously until the very end.

Arthur is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Spencer, Lee's Summit; two sisters: Sylvia Moore and Doreen Love, both of Scotland. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
