Obituary

Arthur "Art" Lee Reece, 67, Harrisonville, MO died Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at the Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2011 at the United Methodist Church, Harrisonville, MO with burial at Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Masonic services Friday at 6:00 p.m. with visitation to follow beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Masonic Lodge #147 A.F. & A.M., 405 N. Independence Street, Harrisonville, MO or United Methodist Church, 2600 E. Mechanic Street, Harrisonville, MO 64701.

Art was born June 19, 1944 and was a life long resident of Harrisonville, MO, the son of Charles Arthur "Bud" Reece and Wilda Lee (Roll) Reece. He was a 1962 graduate of Harrisonville High School. He and his wife of 43 years, Linda Lee (Wittenberg) Reece, were married on February 14, 1968, at Grandview Christian Church, Kansas City, Kansas.

He is survived by his wife Linda and daughter, Sandy Marie Reece of the home; daughter, Sheila Mane' (Reece) Ganley and son-in-law, Brian C. Ganley and four granddaughters, Madelyn Danae' Ganley, Olivia Nicole Ganley, Brianna Rose Ganley and Abigail Grace Ganley; daughter, Shelly Renee' (Reece) Clark and son-in-law, Zane B. Clark and two grandsons, Christian Vaughn Clark and Christopher Zavier Clark.

He is also survived by his brother, Richard Reece and spouse, Betty (Hickman) Reece and their children, Cynthia Reece, David Reece and Stuart Reece; sister-in-law, Margie (Tarwater) Reece, wife of his predeceased brother, Charles Ewing Reece and their children, Julie Attaoui and Charles Lee Reece; sister-in-law, Judy (Smith) Reece, wife of his predeceased brother, Larry Kent Reece and their children, Gina Smith, Wade Reece, and Bret Reece. He has three surviving brothers-in-law and their spouses of the Herman E. Wittenberg, Sr. family, Herman E. and Neva Wittenberg, Jr. and their children, Rhonda Wittenberg, Dan Wittenberg, Staci Smidt and Sean Wittenberg; Robert Charles Wittenberg and his children, Stacey Hohl, Robert Charles Wittenberg Jr. and Rodney Wittenberg; Donald Edward and DianaWittenberg and their children, David Wittenberg and Debbie McCusker. Art loved all of his 10 nephews and 7 nieces, their spouses and children.

Art was a dedicated member of Cass Lodge #147, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons. Art was raised on June 2, 1977. He served as Master of Cass Lodge #147 in 1981 and District Deputy Grand Master in 1991 and 1992. He held memberships in the Bayard Chapter Order of Eastern Star #179, Kansas City Ararat Shrine, Cass County Shrine Club, York Rite, Board member and Dad in the Rainbow Assembly #36, Optimist Club, 4H, FFA and United Methodist Church, all of Harrisonville, MO.

Art was an avid fisherman and member of the National Fishing Lure Collectors Club. He served in the United States Air Force and was employed at Hallmark Cards, Kansas City, Missouri, in the heating and air-conditioning department for 39 years. Upon retirement, Art accomplished his dream of floating the Missouri River and the Mississippi River.
