Obituary

Anna Mae Walters, 103, of Harisonville, MO passed away Monday, April 27, 2009 at the Camden Health Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville with burial in the Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, MO. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Grand River Baptist Church, Freeman, MO.

Anna Mae was born on September, 5, 1905 in Mulberry, KS, the daughter of George Clouse and Laura (Nankiville) Montee. She graduated Mulberry High School in 1924, and from Pittsburg State in 1928. She had received her Kansas Lifetime Teaching Certificate.

On June 19, 1939 she married Harold Lyman Walters in Mulberry, KS. In 1941, they bought a farm between Archie and Drexel, MO where they lived until moving to Harrisonville in 1981. Anna Mae taught elementary school for 36 years before retiring in 1972. She had taught at Breezy Hill School in KS, Madison, KS, Hope, KS, Archie, MO and Louisburg, KS.

Anna Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Harold on April 9, 2008, her parents and one granddaughter, Dana Calvert. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Mabary and her husband, John of Freeman, MO; two grandchildren, Debbie Thompson and her husband, Ron of Harrisonville, MO and Donald Mabary and his wife, Pat of Freeman, MO and eight great-grandchildren, Ryan Thompson, Rachel Thompson, Kelsey Thompson, Sara Calvert, Jennifer Calvert, Logan Mabary, Wyatt Mabary and Brady Mabary.
