Obituary

Andrew "Andy" J. Ray, 80, of Harrisonville, Missouri, died Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, Missouri. Services will be held Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. A Masonic service will begin at 12:30 p.m., with the funeral service following the masonic service at approximately 12:45 p.m.

Andy was born April 24, 1932 in Springfield, Missouri, the son of Homer and Lola (Guard) Ray. He grew up in the Springfield area. He married Kay Evelyn Fischer on April 1, 1961 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was a Korean War Air Force veteran. He lived in Kansas City, Missouri before moving to Harrisonville, Missouri in 1970.

Andy was a truck driver for Campbell '66 in Kansas City for 27 ½ years before retiring. He was a member of Local No. 41 Teamsters Union. He was a member of the Cass Masonic Lodge No. 147, Harrisonville and a member and past Worthy Patron of Bayard Chapter No. 179, Order of Eastern Star. He was also a member of Ararat Shrine, Kansas City. He worked for the Harrisonville School System for several years after retiring, and later worked for Wal-Mart as a greeter in the garden center, for 16 years.

Andy is survived by his wife, Kay, of the home; two sons, Andrew J. Ray, Jr. and wife, Carolyn, Warrensburg, Missouri and Kevin B. Ray, Russellville, Arkansas; four brothers, Lloyd Ray and wife, Ida, Harrisonville, Missouri, Homer Joe Ray, Springfield, Missouri, Stephen Glen Ray and wife, Pat, Fair Grove, Missouri, Deryl Ray, Republic, Missouri; four sisters, Rosalee DeHaven and husband, Kenneth, Anderson, South Carolina, Wynaka Lucas, Springfield, Missouri, Dorthy Himstead and husband, Ron, Springfield, Missouri, Mary Wallin and husband, Bob, Willard, Missouri and Madene Stahlman and husband, Paul, Lebanon, Missouri; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
