Obituary

Almus "Fay" Lafayette Todd, Jr. 87, Willard, MO, formerly of Harrisonville and Peculiar, MO, died Thursday, August 23, 2007 at the Mount Vernon Veterans Home, Mount Vernon, MO, where he had resided since June, 2006. Funeral services were held Monday, August 27 at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville. Masonic services were held Sunday, August 26 at the Atkinson Chapel, under the auspices of Cass Masonic Lodge #147, Harrisonville. Military honors were under the auspices of the Harrisonville Honor Guard. Contributions may be made to the Mount Vernon Missouri Veterans Home Activity Fund.

Almus was born January 7, 1920 in Harrisonville, MO, the son of Almus Lafayette and Elizabeth Gertrude (Brown) Todd. He was a 1937 graduate of Harrisonville High School. Fay was married to Virginia Juanita Blitsch in 1941. In November of 1942, Fay was drafted into the Army infantry and served in all four major battles during WWII. He married Florence Marie Coleman in 1948 and would have celebrated 59 years of marriage on September 19, 2007. Fay worked as a carpenter for most of his adult life and was also employed by the Bendix Corporation and Harvey's Implement Company. He enjoyed many outdoor recreations, including gardening, fishing and all types of hunting. He carried the memories and friendships he experienced on these adventures fondly to the end. Fay was a 50-year member and past master of Cass Masonic Lodge, #147, Harrisonville.

Fay was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sibling who died at birth, brothers, Howard Allison and John Silas Todd, sister, Loretta Agnes Long and a grandson, Matthew Almus Todd. He is survived by his wife, Florence Coleman Todd, of Willard, MO; four children and their families: daughter, Patricia Todd Radde, Elkhorn, NE and her sons, Sheridan Radde and wife Annette, Omaha, NE and Matt Radde and wife, Kristin, Weatherford, TX; son, Michael Allen Todd and wife, Judy, Harrisonville, MO; son, Steven Robert Todd and Sioux Hopkins, and children Dorothy and Joseph Hopkins, Pleasant Hill, MO; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Robinson and husband, Jerry and children, Cassandra, Jake, and Jenna Robinson, Willard, MO; one brother, William B. Todd and wife, Wanda, Peculiar, MO and his extended family, three great-grandchildren, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
