It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alice Annette Cummings, who departed this world peacefully at the age of 86, at St. Luke's East in Lee's Summit, Missouri. A graveside service was held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at the Freeman Cemetery in Freeman, MO. Prior to the service, a visitation was held at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO.  Memorial contributions are suggested to Harrisonville Animal Shelter.

Born on May 21, 1939, in Harrisonville, MO, to Thomas and Ella "Peggy" (Ladd) Gilbert, Alice spent her childhood in the same town, graduating from Harrisonville High School with the Class of 1957. On August 2, 1957, Alice married the love of her life, Ferrell Dean Cummings, in Harrisonville. Together they built a beautiful life in Grandview, sharing adventures and dreams until Ferrell's passing on January 3, 2020.

Alice went on to earn her associate's degree from Longview Community College later in life, reflecting her commitment to education and self-improvement. Her professional journey led her to a successful 37-year career in the insurance industry, where she served as a senior claims examiner at BMA Insurance (Business Men's Assurance Co of America) before retiring in 1994.

Alice was a Baptist, originally attending First Baptist Church in Harrisonville. Her adventurous spirit led her to join the KC Ski Club, embracing new experiences with enthusiasm. An unwavering fan of the Kansas City Chiefs since 1978, Alice eagerly held onto her season tickets, supporting her beloved team with unmatched passion.

A collector at heart, Alice found joy in Precious Moments figurines and Hallmark Ornaments, sharing her love of reading and photography with family and friends. She adored traveling to Florida to visit cherished friends and enjoyed ski trips to Steamboat Springs, where she created lasting memories. She took great joy in spoiling her nieces and nephews.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Ferrell Cummings. She is survived by her sister, Nora VanAntwert; her brother, Paul Gilbert; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
