Perry was born April 1, 1928, the son of Charles Earl and Ada Viola (Main) Fritts on the family farm west of Adrian. Perry started his education at Dixie grade school, then Adrian school before transferring to Merwin High where he graduated in 1945. He, with his three brothers and one sister, lived and worked on the family farm. He once skipped school and his dad told him if he was going to skip school he could go work in the corn field. So the next morning Perry thought he should just go to school. He was proud that all his life he always had an unchanged address of Adrian, Missouri.
On June 22, 1946 he was united in marriage to his wife of 69 years, Rosemary May Wilson in Mound City, Kansas. To this union three daughters and one son were born. Perry worked the farm until moving into Adrian in 1951. In 1959 he built their home where he resided until going to the nursing home.
Perry worked at Lake City Arsenal. In 1955 he began working at Bendix (Allied Signal) for the next 35 years, retiring in 1990. During his time at Bendix he purchased a 1960's Greyhound bus and carried riders to work daily. He then made a decision to sell the bus after a run in with a deer. After retiring, he and Rosemary helped with the greenhouse business "Show Me Gardens" that was run by his daughter and son in law.
Perry loved his two grandsons. He loved working in his wood shop and could fix any toy or anything they would bring him. He entertained Jason and Jacob by telling them stories of his past, repeating the same stories over and over as though he had never told them before. He also loved fishing and as a result many more stories were told.
Perry was a member of the Crescent Hill Masonic Lodge where he received his 50 year pin. He served on the Adrian City Council and placed his membership at the Adrian Christian Church on May 26, 1963, where he later served as an elder.
Perry was preceded in death by his father, Charles Earl Fritts, his mother, Ada Viola Fritts, two brothers, Edward and Alfred, one sister, Viola, his two daughters, Nancy and Joyce, and one son, Joseph. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; his daughter, Janace Rugg and husband, Jay, Adrian, Missouri; two grandsons, Jason Rugg and wife Jessica of Edwardsville, Kansas and Jacob Rugg of Adrian; one brother, Dr. Kenneth Fritts of Stilwell Kansas, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Perry was well loved and respected by the entire community.
