Abigail Joyce Ferrari, 82, of Belton, MO, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. Funeral services were held  Monday, August 8, 2022 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO. Interment  in Wills Cemetery,  Peculiar, MO.

"Gail" was born February 2, 1940 to Mabel J Hose and Russell E Wade in Kansas City, MO.  After losing her mother at a young age, she was raised for several years by her grandmother.  During that time, Gail mastered the art of cooking and gained a love for farm life. She graduated from Southwest High School in Kansas City, MO and went on to attend Kansas University.  Gail made her home in Belton, MO for 60 years.  She worked as a Lab Technician in the Necropsy department for Bayer Corp for over 20 years before retiring.

On June 17, 1999, she united in marriage to Emmett "Frosty" Smith, Jr.  Gail enjoyed her dogs and raising and showing Arabian horses.  She was a member of the Arabian Horse Association. Throughout her life, she enjoyed working on her loom, gardening, growing flowers, and raising chickens.  She enjoyed RV travels, and later in life, she and Frosty built and owned Peculiar Park Place RV Park until he passed away in 2021.

Gail is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Emmett Smith, Jr.; her son, Anthony Vincent Ferrari; and her 2 sisters.  She is survived by her son: Matthew Wade (Melisa) Ferrari of Belton, MO; her grandchildren Logan, Nicolas, Taylor and Tanner Ferrari.  She is also survived by 14 Smith grandchildren, and children Steven Douglas Smith of Spartanburg, SC; Tanya Renee Sirna of Pleasant Hill, MO; Jeffrey Scott Smith of Independence, MO; Todd Brant Smith of Greer, SC; and Christopher Forest Smith of Lee's Summit, MO.
